John Charles
No not our John Charles but the Welsh great.

He was known as Il Gigante Buono at Juventus and was never booked or sent off in his whole career. He was adept at both centre forward and centre half. If only he was English.

Some memories of the great man here:

Never saw the man play, before my time but everyone I have met who did, hold him in the highest regard and in Turin he is still revered, and the Italians know a defender when they see one

I think they even erected a statue in his honour

Re: John Charles
Our Bobby was a defensive midfielder, John Charles was a centre half and a centre forward.

Obviously not at the same time.

I've heard FOLK say, he was even better than MOORE.

Surely not?

Re: John Charles
John Charles finished his playing career at Wrexham.
I saw him at Romford in the 60s in a Southern League game.
He'd moved back to centre half as he was in his 40s. He was still a class act head and shoulders above anyone else at that level and probably the first top class player I saw live.
